Clary Anderson Arena is home to Montclair’s next generation of hockey players — starting from their very first steps on the ice. Our Learn to Skate programs include pathways designed specifically for future hockey players. From Learn to Skate for Hockey to the Junior Rangers Learn to Play and Rookie League, every session helps skaters build confidence, fundamentals, and a love for the game before progressing into youth league play with our community partners. Whether you’re lacing up for the first time or sharpening your skills for the next level, Clary Anderson Arena is where Montclair’s hockey journey begins.

Hockey Training & Pickup Play

Learn to Play with the NY Rangers

Start your hockey journey with 10 fun, 1-hour sessions focused on skating, passing, shooting, and teamwork. FREE full set of CCM equipment (first-time skaters).*

Rookie Series with the NY Rangers

Once your child has learned the basics, Rookie League is the next step. Players test their skills in a fun, team-focused environment while learning game concepts, teamwork, and respect. Junior Rangers team jersey (with first registration)

  • SPRING SESSION: March 20 - May 15
  • 1 Game + 1 Practice weekly
  • Practice: Fridays at 6:20 PM*
  • Games: Saturday at 11:50am OR Sunday at 1:10pm
  • 20 Sessions: $395

* Week 3 practice session is March 31 at 6:10pm

SPRING CHALLENGE SERIES

Spring Challenge Series is coming to Clary Anderson Arena!

Giving players U8 through High School the chance to compete, develop, and stay sharp this spring.

U8–U15 will skate at Montclair State University Ice Arena.
High School division will be played at Clary Anderson Arena.

Structured practices. Competitive games. A strong finish to the season.

Highschool Division

5 Weeks of skills clinics, game situations & full ice games with referees.

Season: April 14 – May 13
Location: Clary Anderson Arena
Lead Coach:  Nick Maffei
Fee: $399

  • Jerseys provided
  • 5 Practices + 5 Games
  • Current 8th - 11th Graders
  • Practices: Tuesdays 7:00pm
  • Games: Wednesdays 7:10pm

Adult Open Hockey

 Drop In – First Come First Serve. First two goalies play free. Limited to 40 participants. Full equipment required.

  • Monday – Friday: 7 – 8:30AM
  • $22 per player.
