As Clary Anderson Arena launches its newly redesigned website, we’re proud to introduce the leadership team guiding Montclair’s community rink into its next chapter.
For more than 55 years, Clary Anderson Arena has been a place where families gather, young skaters take their first strides, hockey players grow into leaders, and lifelong memories are made. Today, that tradition continues under the direction of three dedicated leaders: General Manager Vlad Ciberej, Figure Skating Director Deana Sroka, and Events Director Andrea Astorga.
Together, they help ensure that every program — from Learn to Skate and public skating to birthday parties and youth hockey — reflects the welcoming, community-first spirit that defines Clary Anderson Arena.
Revitalized for the community and professionally managed in partnership with Sports Facilities Companies, Clary Anderson Arena is entering a new chapter while staying rooted in Montclair tradition.

Vlad Ciberej
General Manager | Clary Anderson Arena
Vlad Ciberej brings both operational leadership and lifelong rink experience to his role as General Manager.
A Clifton High School hockey player who spent 17 years on the ice — all at Montclair State Arena — Vlad understands firsthand the impact a community rink can have on young athletes and families. He began his career working as a skate guard and has steadily grown into a hands-on leader who keeps Clary running smoothly day after day.
“What I enjoy most about my role at Clary is the problem-solving,” Vlad says. “Every day is different, and there’s always something new to learn. It keeps me growing — and it keeps the rink improving.”
Having lived in the area for more than 20 years, Vlad is deeply rooted in the local community. Fluent in Slovak, Polish, and Czech, he values connection and communication — something that shows in how he interacts with skaters and families.
Under Vlad’s leadership, Clary Anderson Arena continues to be a safe, welcoming home for Montclair High School hockey, Montclair Kimberley Academy, the Jersey Wolves Youth Hockey Club, Nutley Clifton Hockey Club, and countless community skaters.

Deana Sroka
Figure Skating Director | Learn to Skate & Figure Skating Programs
Few people embody dedication to the sport quite like Deana Sroka.
A distinguished U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist with more than 38 years of competitive and coaching experience, Deana has earned multiple national and sectional titles, including Adult Silver Dance National Champion and Eastern Adult Masters Champion. She most recently helped lead her synchronized team to a 2025 Eastern Open Masters Championship.
But at Clary Anderson Arena, her greatest impact is not measured in medals — it’s measured in confidence.
“Our goal is to build skill and confidence in a way that feels encouraging and fun,” Deana shares. “When skaters feel supported, they thrive.”
Deana has been coaching in the Montclair area for over 30 years and began skating at Clary Anderson Arena herself in 1981. Today, she leads Clary’s Learn to Skate USA program, working with children and adults of all levels — especially first-time and beginner skaters.
Her philosophy is simple: strong fundamentals build lifelong skaters.
From Snowplow Sam through Basic Skills and Learn to Skate for Hockey, Deana ensures that every skater receives patient instruction in a supportive environment. Whether a child dreams of figure skating, hockey, or simply skating confidently with friends, Clary is where that journey begins.

Andrea Astorga
Events Director | Birthday Parties & Special Programs
Andrea Astorga’s connection to Clary Anderson Arena began in 1980, when she first laced up her skates here as a child. That early experience sparked a lifelong love for skating — and eventually brought her back in a leadership role.
With more than 25 years of experience managing ice events and parties, Andrea oversees Clary’s birthday parties, private rentals, and special events. She works closely with families to make celebrations seamless, welcoming, and full of joy.
“Clary has always been a place where people come together,” Andrea says. “Being able to help create those moments for families and groups — especially in the same rink where I first learned to skate — is incredibly meaningful.”
From rinkside birthday parties to group outings and community events, Andrea’s focus is on making every experience feel organized, easy, and memorable.
Her background in event programming and hospitality ensures that whether you’re planning a birthday party, team celebration, or school outing, your experience at Clary Anderson Arena feels special from start to finish.
A Community Rink, Reimagined
The strength of Clary Anderson Arena lies in its programs — and the people who lead them.
- Learn to Skate USA programs for children and adults
- Youth and high school hockey
- Public skating sessions for all ages
- Freestyle ice and skill development
- Birthday parties and special events
- School field trips and group outings
Each of these programs is guided by leaders who understand that Clary is more than an ice rink — it’s a community hub.
As Montclair’s hometown rink continues its revitalization, the commitment remains the same: to provide a welcoming space where families, athletes, and neighbors can gather, grow, and create lasting memories on the ice.
We invite you to explore our newly launched website, learn more about our programs, and join us at Clary Anderson Arena — where Montclair skates together.
